Actuarial Director-Commercial Pricing

Position Summary:
This role will be lead in a multitude of actuarial support for Ryan Specialty business units, central functions, and/or external partners; work may relate to pricing, underwriting support, loss projection, and/or risk analysis; this role is a highly visible position in an area of strategic importance and require significant collaboration and coordination across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Development and management of key stakeholder relationships, both internal and external
- Scheduled and ad hoc actuarial analyses of underwriting performance, profitability, and projection
- Ownership of strategic analysis and predictive modeling aimed at process/rate/UW intelligence improvement, including identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and other strategic elements
- Product and tool strategy & development in support of new and existing initiatives
- Ownership/leadership of projects, including portfolio modeling & monitoring, risk aggregation assessment, peer & industry comparisons, and business intelligence & management information processes
- Play a key role in driving strategy around the use of technology underlying actuarial analysis and supporting key decision-making
- Consistent and efficient communication with the underwriting teams, management teams, and central functions
- Consistent and efficient communication with insurance partners and external actuarial teams
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in numerical or related field, including, but limited to, actuarial, mathematics, or finance
- 8+ years of industry experience
- Actuarial designation
- Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail
- Solid interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- Proven experience working with Excel, relational database tools, and visualization tools
- Demonstrated strong understanding of insurance business
- Ability to ask questions, provide constructive challenge, manage upward, and get involved at all levels of process, as necessary
- Experience working with large data sets and instances of incomplete/inconsistent data
- Ability to think flexibly and react nimbly during critical moments and the ability to make connections between data and business strategies
- Ability to evaluate, analyze, design, and implement solutions based on technical requirements
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Capability to balance multiple projects and/or customers concurrently
- Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision
