Position Summary:

The position of Director CAT Modeling and Analytics is a senior position responsible for supporting CAT strategies and the implementation of integrated business solutions working alongside the leadership of CAT modeling and Central underwriting teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist management of the Corporate CAT team.
  • Provide risk analysis subject master expert support and training to underwriting and modeling partners.
  • Plan and manage CAT modeling and analytics projects.
  • Support Reinsurance Projects and Solutions.
  • Support the process for account modeling, and portfolio and reinsurance analyses.
  • Attend important Ad-Hoc projects and new business needs.
  • Develop Advanced Analytical Methodologies and solutions.
  • Support the development of analytical, pricing, risk management and reporting Tools.
  • Participate in development projects across other teams and external consultants.
  • Develop SQL Algorithms to be implemented in the PAPI system.
  • Provide support with Alteryx Workflows.
  • Processing the submission data files, modeling the policy options and locations in RiskBrowser, Risklink and touchstone models.
  • Modeling complex policy options on a timely manner and communicate the results to underwriters / brokers.
  • Implement best CAT modeling practices for quality assurance .
  • Participate with the actuarial team in providing integrated business solutions.
  • Provide technical support and model evaluation and validation of analyses and reports.
  • Participate in developing business requirements for automation and testing of computer systems.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.


  • Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, finance or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, VBA, SQL, R or Python.
  • About 10 years catastrophe modeling experience with insurance and reinsurance business.
  • Experience in using catastrophe models, including RMS and AIR and a broad understanding of statistical methods used in CAT models (AALs, EP).
  • A good understanding of property insurance business.
  • Strong business and collaborative skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demands.
  • Ability to manage and planning of Team workloads.
  • Critical attention to details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Proven track record of being a team leader.
