Position Summary:
The Information Security Analyst will be responsible for monitoring RSG computer networks for security issues, investigating incidents, installing security software, handling tickets and documenting any security issues or breaches you find. This may involve testing, log analysis, interacting with vendors and partners, automation and scripting, or systems administration tasks.
This role will also collaborate with the Information Security team to help develop organization wide best practices for IT security and be involved in selection of new tools and products, analysis of our current security posture, and implementation and documentation of new tools, processes and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with our MDR provider to monitor the organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate any potential incidents that occur or are reported
- Where required, configure and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to implement security measures and operate software as required
- Prepare reports that document security breaches and the extent of the damage caused by the breaches
- Monitor ticketing queue and respond to or escalate tickets as needed
- Test and evaluate new technology
- Coordinate with IT to provide objective advice about or implementation assistance for IT security requirements
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management
- Create and maintain metrics reports for management reporting
- Stay up to date on information technology trends and security standards including formal and informal training.
- Collaborate with Security Engineers on all the above
Education/Experience/Skills:
- BA in Information Security preferred
- Proficient with Windows, Linux and Mac Operating Systems
- Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of shell scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
- Experience with and understanding of network security concepts such as firewalls, endpoint security, web gateways, etc.
- Basic understanding of patch and vulnerability management
- Experience installing security software and documenting corresponding processes and procedures
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
