Position Summary:

Ryan Specialty Producer will proactively pursue and close sales through new and existing Employee Benefits brokers/consultants, third party administrators and associations/coalitions. Additionally, build and maintain strong network of key relationships with industry executives, sources, Carriers and MGUs to insure a strong pipeline. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism; possess the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Achieve revenue objectives established in annual producer sales plan.
  • Construct and maintain a business plan for your designated territory based on sales and strategic initiatives.
  • Prospect new business by phone, email, referral or other marketing and lead generation techniques for identified target groups in accordance with Ryan Specialty guidelines.
  • Develop and convey formal proposals of insurance including details of coverages, limits, deductibles and other pertinent information.
  • Work with team to submit, rate, quote and place quality new business in accordance with agency and company profit structures.
  • Negotiate coverage and pricing to maximize the best value to the client.
  • Follow up on referrals provided by team within designated time frame.
  • Provide complete and accurate underwriting information to agency and company personnel.
  • Introduce Account Executive and Account Manager roles to clients and involve them as a valued member of the Ryan team.
  • Support sales efforts through a mutual referral network to cross sell qualifying business.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field with heavy emphasis in marketing and finance, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Track record of sales generation, relationship building and business development. Minimum of 7+ years.
  • Extensive working knowledge of industry legislative and compliance issues.
  • Experience managing alternative funding arrangements, self-insured benefit plans, Taft-Hartley Trust, Tribal or other specialized business expertise
  • Current required licenses or ability to immediately obtain.
  • Must be available for travel and willing to accept responsibility for client/vendor entertainment.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite - specifically Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Project Management experience a plus.
  • Experience managing confidential information (HIPAA).
  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills required.
  • Exceptional abstract reasoning and analytical abilities.
  • Must have strong knowledge of vendor and competitors’ strengths and weakness.
  • Strong negotiating and closing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Passionate leader and entrepreneurial spirit.
