Position Summary:

The Inspection Team Leader will provide supervision and training to Inspection Team Members throughout the Company, as well as function as an Inspection Team Member as needed. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Inspection Team, ensuring service and quality goals are being met, and proper support is being provided to the Underwriting Team. This position will be responsible for training inspection team members, documentation of process and procedures, running meetings, approving scheduling requests, and providing processing support for members of the department, as well as keeping the Inspection Team Supervisor well informed about the operations of the department. 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision of Inspection Team Members
  • Training of Inspection team members.
  • Working collaboratively with inspection team members to accomplish organizational goals through management of workload and turnaround times. 
  • Regular assistance with team tasks to include: inspection ordering, follow up with inspection vendor and agent regarding the inspection, review of completed inspection against the insurance policy, handling of inspection discrepancies and recommendations, inspection related correspondence from carriers and agents. 
  • Handling incoming and outgoing phone calls from inspection vendors, agents, and insurance carriers. 
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation for team processes, procedures, and information needed to complete regular tasks and duties.
  • Providing trouble shooting and problem solving support to team members. 
  • Approval of time out of the office for direct reports. This includes review of schedules for all impacted teams to ensure proper coverage.  
  • Communication with Supervisor/Manager to keep them informed of status of workload, turnaround times, coverage for time out of the office, training needs, staffing needs, etc…
  • Providing input and suggestions on ways to handle the team's work more effectively and efficiently. 
  • Holding team meetings as needed to ensure proper communication with your team members.  
  • Reviewing inspection team’s work to ensure quality, accuracy, and high levels of customer service.
  • Providing regular feedback to the team regarding their work, knowledge, and any scheduling or conduct issues. 
  • May work with Supervisor to assist with interviewing and hiring of new Inspection Team Members as needed. 
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.


  • A NYS broker’s license (preferred prior to hire and required within first 6 months in position).
  • At least two (2) years of Property/Casualty insurance experience preferred. 
  • Basic to Intermediate Property/Casualty underwriting comprehension preferred. 
  • Must be an enthusiastic, positive person who embraces a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Work cooperatively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
