Position Summary:

The Underwriting Services Supervisor is responsible for the supervisory leadership of the groups that are part of the National Underwriting Services team. This role demands a commitment to process and service to ensure these teams are acting in a best-in-class manner.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervision of Underwriting Support Services Team Leaders and/or more senior members of the Underwriting Services Support team. 
  • Consistent evaluation of team functions to ensure that work is being performed by the right team with the goal of moving as much non-production work as possible off of the production teams. 
  • Work with Team Leaders to uncover inefficiencies in processes and procedures and work to resolve them.
  • Responsible for oversight of documentation for processes that your teams handle. 
  • Approval of time out of the office for direct reports. This includes review of schedules for all impacted teams to ensure proper coverage.
  • Work collaboratively with Team Leaders and other Supervisors to accomplish organizational goals of the Underwriting Support Services team. 
  • Review of team member’s work to ensure that they are meeting the requirements of their position. This includes spot check of your team's direct reports to ensure high levels of quality, accuracy, and customer service. 
  • Keep Underwriting Support Services Manager up to speed on the status of meeting organizational goals, staffing needs, training and development needs, and issues with employee scheduling or conduct. 
  • Learn all aspects and functionality of our agency management system to ensure that you can assist with trouble shooting, problem solving, and process improvement.
  • Work with Team Leaders to determine pay increases and bonus amounts across your team. 
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience 
  • License Preferred, not required 
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Personnel management and development
  • Understanding of wholesale/MGA insurance operations
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a highly automated, paperless environment, including specialized software packages.
  • Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Critical attention to details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Proven track record of being a team player.
  • May be required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
