Senior Network Engineer - Corporate

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) Vice President of Infrastructure and is responsible for planning, designing, installing, and maintaining RSG’s internal network and security systems.  The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for supporting a high availability network with zero downtime for each physically segmented leg of our network. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the security of network communications and company systems.  Expert experience with Cisco and Palo Alto is highly desired. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working with other team members to complete highly complex projects and deployments.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitoring of LAN infrastructure identifying potential security, speed, and performance improvements utilizing LAN, QoS, VLAN, IOS, Netflow and SNMP.
  • Installing and configuring networking resources such as Palo Alto Firewalls, LAN switches, DHCP servers, WAN accelerator devices, SDWAN, etc.
  • Developing and producing system architecture plans and designs, test plans, implementation plans, operation guides, and offering overall subject matter expertise for enterprise network solutions.
  • Utilizing available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, and log files to facilitate effective issue resolution.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for advanced troubleshooting of network or systems related issues.
  • Define the network strategy, infrastructure, and system model to support further growth of the business.
  • Undertaking both projects and steady-state activities.
  • Occasional travel between sites for upgrades and installations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required


  • BS in Management Information System, Computer Science or a comparable technical degree.  Cisco CCNP or CISSP Certification preferred but not required.
  • Excellent knowledge of voice and data networking principles
  • Network Security, including core and endpoint solutions (NAC/802.1x)
  • Cisco switches and routers: 3K, 7K, 9K Catalyst series IOS, Nexus
  • Ethernet technologies: spanning tree, vlans, trunking, channeling, multilayer switching
  • WAN technologies
  • IP routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, HSRP
  • Palo Alto Firewalls/Panorama
  • Juniper Routers - recommended
  • Loadbalancers - F5, KEMP, Netscalers – recommended
  • Proficiency in data security and vulnerability remediation - recommended
  • Experience with security auditing techniques and intrusion detection - recommended
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
