Position Summary:

The Senior Underwriting Consultant will process existing renewal business and maintain those accounts throughout the term. Responsibilities will include analyzing, designing, marketing, managing and servicing sophisticated alternative risk financing products and services for Keystone’s customers and their agency partners, as well as working with commercial insurance carriers throughout their underwriting process.

Essential Functions:

  • Gathering underwriting data, modeling projected losses and collateral needs, analyzing claims data, and assessing risk mitigation techniques.
  • Managing day-to-day needs of Keystone’s customers and their agency partners.
  • The solicitation, quoting, and binding of submissions in accordance with guidelines specific to your Underwriting Letter of Authority granted by the team leader and/or Carrier.
  • Training and supervising junior staff.
  • Complete documentation and management of all accounts assigned.
  • Review work completed by Brokers for accuracy.
  • Apply appropriate factors to rating basis/formulas provided.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15+ years in underwriting.
  • License required.
  • Demonstrated proficient technical underwriting expertise.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and deep knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills: listening and understanding client business priorities.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
  • Critical attention to details.
  • Proven track record of being a team player.
  • May be required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to manage workload as assigned by management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Proven track record of being a team player.
