Position Summary:
The Senior Risk Account Engineer works proactively and independently, providing high quality risk engineering expertise to secure, enhance and retain PERse/client/insurance carrier relationships while focusing on mutually beneficial solutions to loss prevention and profitability goals.
Essential Functions:
- Review and evaluate 3rd party reports for clients to provide guidance for recommendations and report contents.
- Conduct an annual assessment per PERse requirements of accounts detailing site risk characteristics, property and time element loss potentials, and natural catastrophe exposures providing value added service to client.
- Conduct site surveys at client locations for the benefit of the insurance carrier and client. Provide written reports that provide the necessary risk information for the insurance carrier to underwrite the risk. Utilize 3rd Party resources as needed.
- Participate in client meetings as advocate for client and PERse with underwriters to address engineering concerns. Conduct presentations relating to PERse services provided and results of annual reviews for clients.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, internet forums to keep abreast of technological changes with OEMs, including but not limited to wind, solar, battery storage, geothermal, hydro and fuel cells.
- Provide review and evaluation of new facilities and new construction at existing facilities as needed for clients.
- Maintain expertise in NAT CAT exposures and evaluations using FEMA, MunichRe Nathan, Swiss Re CATNET, NOAA SLOSH, etc.
- Responsible for providing input to the underwriting and the claims departments to assist in assessing and evaluating account loss history and possible solutions.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred.
- 10 to 20 years plus experience as a loss prevention engineer in the power generation industry with significant exposure to the renewable power technologies.
- Experience as an account engineer working with clients and brokers including client annual meetings, annual account summaries, recommendation validation, site visits.
- Experience in natural catastrophe and builders’ risk (erection all risk) risk engineering.
- Maintain Global Wind Organization BST certifications for onshore and offshore. Utilize a PERse set of safety and PPE equipment for all site visits.
- Maintain active memberships in organizations that benefit and are required to complete the requirements of the position per the Practice Leader.
- Readily adaptable to changing assignments and short lead time requests while working remotely.
- Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Critical attention to details.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Proven track record of being a team player.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Requires extended physical demands to include exposure to various weather conditions, climbing, and extended walking.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The target salary range for this position is $135,000-$155,000 annually. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
